Obama for President?
It seems that the black political elite and social thinkers are being a little hard on Barack Obama. Those such as Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton, Tavis Smiley and so on say they don't want to rush to support Mr. Obama as a candidate. They say he hasn't been forthcoming about his stance on issues crucial to African Americans. I say many of the current potential candidates and past presidential candidates completely ignore so-called African American issues. Even worse, elected politicians ignore these issues and as long as they're Democrats, black self-proclaimed leaders and organizations stand with them and say we have to go with the lesser of two evils. I say Mr. Obama has presented himself as a savvy, dedicated and socially conscious brother. I don't think he would sell us out any faster than the other choices. We should be cheering him on not giving him the cold shoulder. It makes it look like these so-called leaders are a bunch of haters. I hope that's just the way it looks.

Can somebody say “crabs in a bucket”? All my days lived to see the day such as this, a black man coming forth to step to the plate. Now understand that we have some blacks in this world that want to do what this young man doing, but fear of what they think the out come will be. Grandma Lula gone tell you like it is, for our political elite and social thinkers to not be so willing to support this young man shows just how much faith they have in their own race. The bible says when the Lord comes back “one gone be laying in the bed and the other gone be taken up” Now if you asked me I want to be that one taken up Lord forbid if I mother, cousin, sister, or whoever, I want it to be me going up. Understand Grandma Lula good, I don’t mind having other taken up in other words I don’t mind them leading sometime, but all the time? I want to see somebody like me in the White House as president. I’m tired of having them to come close to the top but not take the top. You wonna know why I think it seems that the black political elite and social thinkers are being a little hard on Barack Obama it’s because he has over came that fear of what the out come will be. So what we never saw a black man in the White House taking the lead as president. Don’t tell me we have more faith in someone else race than our own. What reason those such as Jesse Jackcon, Al Sharpton, Tavis Smiley and so on say they don’t want to rush to support Mr. Obama as a candidate? The say he hasn’t been forthcoming about his stance on issues crucial to African American. Grandma Lula gone tell you this and I’m not talking about you or you I’m talking about who I’m talking about, some of these scared leaders need stand up and stop lying to themselves talking about what this man is not bring forth. So much of this “crabs in the bucket” is holding people back. Don’t we want to see America live up to it’s name “Land of the free home of the Brave” I see now that Mr. Obama is taking a stand and he’s not thinking in the box. I’m cheering this young man on and if we are black leaders we need to support our kind. You all sit around and cry and complain about what this person is doing and now that you have a chance to make a difference you want to find all the reasons in the world to not make a difference. Is it that the money, and the fame that has gotten in the way of the true dream of Dr. Martin Luther King?

It amazes me that here in the year of 2007, Wille B. Lynch's Making of a Slave theory/method still has a profound effect on the Black race and white race for that fact. Here we have a man who has proven to be qualified to run for president, yet based on his ethnicity is still being judged by his fellow black sisters and brothers in a negative manner. Obama is not responsible for our race, he is representing our race in a positive manner. Lynch stated that he used Distrust, envy and fear to corrupt the minds of the negroes. He advised that the massa made sure the negroes trust him and distrust each other. He caused division among the negroes by the shade of their skin, age, knowledge, hair type whether long or short and the list goes on and on. After causing this division envy set in the heart of negroes automatically. I see the same behaviors being exemplifed in this presidental election situation. Why can't we look at what Obama has already done and listen to what he plans to do without disqualifying him as being capable of being the next president based on some preconcieved notions conjured up in the mind of one who still thinks like a slave. Answer this question What has the other races done to help us, no more than some other intelligent blacks who died for the benefits and freedoms that we have today. Again, we praised them (the other races) and we too, murdered our leaders who gave their lives for the Cause.
ReplyDeleteObama will not just receive my vote because he represents the black race. I truly believe he is the best qualified person for the job. I say to you, read about all the candidates their history and their future plans then make your decision based on the concerns you have for our country, who you think would be the best candidate for president.
Obama for President, why not? Blacks as a minority race have stood by every other race, so why not ours? What has moved some of the most well known Black leaders today to hesitate in supporting a respresentative of the Black race. These leaders would like to say that he has not addressed some issues the way that they would like it, but tell me who can satisfy all men? In addition not long ago we had a white President who did much to help minorities, blacks being among them and he was crucified. Society would like to say it was because he lied when he said he was not having relations with a certain lady (who will remain nameless), but in actuality what political leader has not. It is the nature of the beast. Inorder to get into office there are always promises and agendas made but when the aspirant gets into office there are always changes and promises broken. It is time for us as a Black race to stop! Stop promoting other races or persons due to jealousy. Stop hindering progress that could be made due to fear. Stop grabbing and clucthing at the person ahead of you due to a "slave mentality". Stop being a brother/sisters barricade and be a hand. Be to each other a hand that helps, that guides, that molds, that lifts.
ReplyDeleteIf they fear what he may do, they should position themselves to become his confidants. Finally I'll leave you with this never tell "man" your whole heart, for there will always be someone standing near ready to tear it to shreds. My advice to Obama, gather your supporters, take a stand and bump the rest. My advice to the people, let's try him and see, because if he has nothing else the man definitely has courage!
